Northern Vietnam once boasted a healthy panda population but developments in human activity and overall habitat loss have greatly reduced their numbers.
Now, the panda has become the embodiment of the endangered species, being featured on the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) logo for this very reason. Less than 2,000 individuals are currently living in the wild – mostly in remote areas of China.
Where do Wild Pandas Live?
There was once a time when wild pandas could also be found in northern Vietnam and northern Myanmar. However, wild pandas can now only be found in the Shaanxi, Sichuan, and Gansu provinces of south-central China.
Pandas used to reside in lowland areas but have been forced out of their habitats. Deforestation, climate change, and general human development have resulted in pandas seeking solitude in increasingly remote terrains.
Are There Pandas Anywhere in Vietnam?
There aren’t any pandas currently in Vietnam, either in the wild or any of its zoos. Sadly, panda lovers will be disappointed in Vietnam but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t other amazing animals for you to see.
