Vietcombank Tower Saigon – HCMC

Completed in 2015, the Vietcombank Tower Saigon is one of Ho Chi Minh City’s newest Class A business buildings. Boasting a modern design and staggered appearance, this structure stands out among the Saigon skyline.

Focused on business activities, the Vietcombank Tower Saigon includes both commercial and tourist interests. With a premier location, the tower has become an important place for international relations.

Skyscraper in District 1

Standing stately in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietcombank Tower Saigon is adjacent to the Saigon River in District 1. The tower itself stands in No. 5 Me Linh Square, which is one of the top-rated attractions in the city.

Quick stats:

  • Developer: Vietcombank, Bonday, and Benthanh Limited Liability Company
  • Construction: 2013-2015
  • Opened: March 2015
  • Height: 206 meters/676 feet
  • Observatory: None

  • Features: Offices | Commercial | Tourism

Design

In a similar vein to all of Vietnam’s newest skyscrapers, the Vietcombank Tower Saigon is a modern structure that has been integrated with the latest technology. Designed by US architect Clark Pelli, the tower was made to maximize space while remaining eco-friendly.

Monumental and regale in its appearance, the Vietcombank Tower Saigon is constructed using mainly granite and glass. The glass wall system functions by reducing the building’s electricity consumption, using its oversized windows to capture natural light. An open floor plan also cuts the tower’s environmental footprint.

Integrated into the building are high-quality utility and management services. Offices are protected by digital fire alarms, standby generators, CCTV security, and high-speed elevators. A reception desk provides guests with information in addition to servicing the offices.

Most offices in the building include layouts that are 10,763 sq ft to 11,800 sq ft. The modernity of the building and its intelligent design has made the Vietcombank Tower Saigon one of the city’s most prestigious workspaces.

Observation Deck

Unfortunately, there is not a designated observation deck at the Vietcombank Tower Saigon, as the upper floors are reserved for offices. Unlike other skyscrapers in Vietnam, the top of this tower isn’t a tourist attraction, with access restricted to the areas with the best views.

The nearest observation deck is at the highly-rated Saigon Skydeck within the Bitexco Financial Tower. This skyscraper has all the facilities to accommodate guests wishing to view the city from above.

Things to do in Vietcombank Tower Saigon

The Vietcombank Tower Saigon is a multi-use structure that focuses on commercial and business use. There are no overnight accommodations, but guests can still visit the tower in the daytime. The vast majority of the building is reserved for offices, but on the lower levels, there are a few shopping and dining options.

Limited Retail

Due to the building being so business-oriented, you won’t find many options for retail therapy. While some of the ground floor and lower levels are leased to boutiques, there is no shopping mall inside.

However, the tower’s location in Me Linh Square means that there is plenty of shopping nearby. Most people visiting the tower will admire its appearance as they peruse the nearby stores. An open park space at the base of the tower provides a place for small establishments.

Only 300 meters down the road from the Vietcombank Tower Saigon is Nguyen Hue Street. This street is famous for its French colonial architecture and wide paths. There is also an abundance of shopping opportunities available.

Places to Stay

As mentioned, there are no places to stay overnight at the tower, although there are a plethora of options available nearby. Being a popular location for tourists, there are several 4 and 5-star rated hotels within the area.

Establishments with the best rating include the Camelia Saigon Hotel, The Reverie Saigon, and the Sheraton Saigon Hotel.

Restaurants and Bars

Similar to the shops, the Vietcombank Tower Saigon has limited space for restaurants. Mixed in with retail stores on the lower levels, there are a select few restaurants, some of which have outdoor dining.

There are also plenty of dining options around the tower and within the square. Some of the restaurants that are across the street from the Vietcombank Tower Saigon include The Racha Room, Firkin Bar, and Malt Saigon Bar. All of these establishments have consistent ratings of 4.5 stars and higher.

Just a couple of blocks away from the tower is Nguyen Hue Street. As mentioned earlier, this road is a popular destination with dozens of retail stores as well as plenty of restaurants to stop and grab a bite to eat.
