Kenh Ga Hot Spring – Ninh Binh Province

ShareTweet

If you are traveling in Northern Vietnam, near the Ninh Binh Province, make sure you add Kenh Ga Hot springs to your list of must-see attractions. The natural beauty of the Vietnamese countryside surrounds visitors as they soak in these mineral springs.

Found in the floating village of Kenh Ga, the waters begin at the foothills of Canh Ga Mountain along the Hoang Long River. Only 1.5 hours from Hanoi, this hot spring makes for a great day trip.

The Hot Springs

These clear, odorless, 127° F natural springs flow at about 1000 gallons/hour and are rich in medicinal minerals such as potassium chloride, sodium chloride, calcium, and bicarbonate. They attract individuals who want to relax or find relief from stomach aches, scabies, vitiligo, and obesity.

There are areas that you can swim or quietly soak and some guests drink mineral water to help heal their stomachs.

The Kenh Ga Resort has water tanks filled with mineral water at 100° F and 80° F to meet your temperature preferences. Each tank has about 16 strong taps and can comfortably fit around 50 – 70 people. After letting your body absorb the teach and healing properties, you can choose to lie on a nearby area to let your body cool off in the breeze or hop into a cooler bath.

You can also find private, Japanese-style, soaking areas if you ask. These wood-made soaking tubs come with staff to help accommodate your needs and preferences. Each private soaking room has windows for you to be able to enjoy soaking while looking at the mountains and skyscapes around you.

Where To Stay

You can choose to stay in the stilt houses or hotels at the Kenh Ga Resort. This 3-star resort has air conditioning, refrigerators, television, and views of the Hoang Long River, which is stunning at night. Morning is the quietest time around Kenh Ga with only the sound of nature to accompany. Stilt houses can accommodate up to 60 individuals and are a great option for large groups.

The overnight resort has spas, massages, restaurants, and entertainment. You will also find karaoke rooms where you and your friends or students can sing and dance to a modern sound system. The staff can assist you in organizing bonfires, workshops, dances in a professional and memorable manner.

What to Do

While soaking in the hots springs is the main goal of your trip, you may want to check out other things to do in the Ninh Binh area such as:

  • Van Trinh Cave: Located in Mo mountain, and it has impressive stalactites and stalagmites
  • Van Long Nature Reserve: One of the largest wetland reservations
  • Dich Long Temple and Cave: Called the third most beautiful cave in Vietnam
  • Trang An: An eco-tourism complex
  • Cuc Phuong National Park

While in Kenh Ga, take the opportunity to experience many of the local delicacies such as goat meat, elderberry, and the Gia Vien shrimp sauce. You may also want to take a boat ride to get a feel for the local fishing environment and life on the waterfront. Happy soaking!
