This massive grotto was first explored in 1994 and has developed a reputation as the most extensive and beautiful cave in the region. Part of the Tu Lan Cave System, Tien (Fairy) Cave is located in Cao Quang Commune, Tuyen Hoa district. Like a Roman amphitheater, Hang Tien features soaring ceilings and bellowing indoor acoustics.
Stalactites hang down from overhead like chandeliers and indoor ponds meander through the wide walls. There’s plenty of life inside the cave. The abundance of natural light on the entrance has resulted in a thriving network of greenery growing at the front adding one last splash of color before you venture deeper inside.
A wonder outside will reveal stunning panoramic views of the forests and jungle underneath. It may take a while to trek to Hang Tien Cave, but the effort is certainly worth it.
How to Get to Tien (Fairy) Cave

Getting to Hang Tien cave is no walk in the park. After finding a tour operator and group, you’ll first need to traverse through the 8 km long jungle trails past flowing streams and other large caves in Quang Binh Province.
You’ll end up staying overnight in the heart of the jungle in front of freshwater streams and under the glowing stars. The lack of light pollution makes the entire night sky visible, providing a wonderful view.
The second day is where the real challenge lies. You’ll need to conquer cliffs, wade through water, and climb steep walls whilst avoiding jagged rocks and hungry mosquitoes along the way. As if that wasn’t challenging enough, you’ll then have to swim through another cave (lifejackets and headlights will be provided) before making your way to Hang Tien cave.
The effort does pay off, though, as upon arrival you’ll be greeted with the second-largest dry cave in Vietnam. You’ll spend hours enjoying this natural marvel and exploring every nook and cranny it has to offer. After completing your visit, you’ll have to trek 7 km before being picked up in a private car to your original meeting point. It’s quite a journey!
Best Time to Visit

Like most outdoor attractions in Vietnam, the best time to visit Hang Tien is in the dry season that runs from April to August. The weather may be hot, but the proximity to the flowing freshwater will cool the temperatures nicely.
Tien Cave is one of Vietnam’s most stunning natural attractions, it may require an odyssey to get there, but the hard work will pay off.
