Built in 2002 and opened in 2003, the ride from the Da Lat Cable Car Station is one of the city’s most exciting attractions. The entire length of the cable car system is 2,160 meters/7,087 feet long and travels from the station on Robin Hill to the Truc Lam Zen Monastery on top.
After arriving at the monastery, visitors can explore the area while taking in some of the most significant vistas of the forests and city below before heading back down. Each way, the travel time is less than 15 minutes, offering sightseers a chance to admire the surrounding lush trees and parts of Tuyen Lam Lake from a bird’s-eye view.
There are 50 colorful cars in the cable car system, and each one fits up to four people. Thanks to its continuous operation, up to 900 people per hour can make the journey up the hill. The Da Lat Cable Station at Robin Hill and its counterpart at Truc Lam are both equipped with modern European equipment designed for easy loading and unloading from the cars.
Visiting the station and taking the cable car trip is a must-do activity for tourists to Da Lat, especially on clear and sunny days. One of the best times to ride is early in the morning before many crowds, especially if you can time it with sunrise. During the time of year when the sun sets early, the last rides of the day are ideal for capturing fantastic dusk vistas, too.
There is a cost to take the cable cars up, and round-trip tickets can be purchased at the station.
