Crocodile Lake is a UNESCO biosphere reserve located in Cat Tien National Park in Dong Nai Province. Not only is it a beautiful atmosphere to hike out to on a day trip, but it also offers lots of wildlife viewing along the way.
The Siamese Crocodile and Andaman Water Monitor are two endangered animals that call this jungle area home. Additionally, many types of primates like gibbons are often seen swinging from the tree canopies.
Crocodile Lake Trek
Many visitors to Cat Tien National Park book a tour leader to take them on the 14km hike to the lake. Guides offer a lot of insight into the area, plants, and animals and are excellent at ensuring that everyone stays safe while having fun exploring the area.
The trek takes roughly five hours to complete and departs between 7:30 am and 11 am; it is not offered in the afternoon. The ranger station is excellent for taking pictures of Crocodile Lake and occasionally is able to offer boat rides for a closer look at the crocs in the water.
The hike to the lake starts off with 10 km/6.2 miles on a paved concrete path, followed by 4 km/2.5 miles of jungle terrain. Aside from walking it, it’s also possible to rent a bike or jeep to the lake. Reservations for vehicle rentals have to be done in advance.
